Give kids the summer of their lives, and experience yours too.
About the Camp
Camp Ozanam is operated by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and is funded by Catholic Charities through ShareLife. Camp Ozanam continues the long tradition of serving boys from families in need, in the Archdiocese of Toronto; the first outreach started in 1929.
It offers boys from largely urban areas an experience outside of the city that they may not otherwise get in their day-to-day lives. Nestled in the corner of Deer Lake, just outside of Algonquin Park, we are blessed to be able to bring the beauty of the land to a much broader community. We come together in canoes, on the ball court, in the dining hall, on the beach and around the fire, all the while in awe of the environment which surrounds us and beckons to the wild side of our hearts. Camp Ozanam continues the tradition of serving where generations previously served; we are glad to take up the torch and bring light to the ones who follow.
Our Mission
Camp Ozanam is a place that fosters community. This is a place where young people are encouraged to grow into their full potential by reinforcing their strengths and facing their weaknesses head on. At camp there is one goal, creating a warm and empowering environment for all who pass through. While our main focus is on making sure the campers have the time of their lives,
we emphasize growth for all.
From the homesick 6 year old, to the 18 year old trying to find their place in the world, everyone is home at camp. And what a home it is!
Counselling Programs
Counsellors
Camp Ozanam’s counselling program is built to offer adequate care for all of our unique campers, while allowing for our staff to build countless skills through valuable life and work experiences.
Responsible for a cabin of campers ages 6-13 years old, counsellors are given the opportunity to thrive as individuals. From one-on-one counselling to running a variety of group activities, our team of directors create personalized experiences for each of our staff that will cater to their skills, inspire them to grow and broaden their horizons.
Counsellors in Training
The Counsellor-in-training (CIT) program is aimed at boys in grades 9 and 10 and offers an experience where they learn how to be great leaders, experience nature, grow in confidence, and cultivate community. CITs participate in daily group leadership training, maintenance of the camp facilities, and are responsible for a cabin of campers along with a team of older staff.
